What is “Cycling for a Cause”?
It is a McDonald County-wide cycling event that not begins and ends in McDonald County, but strives to bring the entire community together in a family-oriented way through many common themes and a very local cause. Our common causes come in many forms ranging from fostering a healthier lifestyle for all ages, raising funds for local non-profits, introducing cycling to the community in a fun and family-oriented way, building a stronger foundation in which to grow local tourism which increases the financial stability throughout the County, and lastly, have as much fun as possible. (For safety reasons, those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/adult)
What is the cost to ride?
That is the most exciting part of this event. While usual ride fees for cycling events can range from $80 - $220 depending on the area, distance, and other factors, due to support from our partners/sponsors who have committed to underwriting this event. Those wishing to just pay the standard registration fee of $59, that is OK. For those wishing to, we are able to waive the entire registration fee for any rider gathering a minimum of $60 in pledges that will be dedicated to one of the non-profits listed below. While we are still formulating the complete list of non-profits, some of them include: Hero's Ranch & Sheep Dog Organization, McDonald County HS Mountain Biking Club, McDonald County Rotary, McDonald County HS ROTC, McDonald County Schools Foundation, Pedal it Forward, McDonald County Chamber, and possibly 1 more. The best part, 100% of the registration minus the cost of the T-shirts goes to the non-profit selected.
Don't have a bike?
Well, we may have that covered for you as well. Peddle It Forward has committed to donating up to 100+ bikes to those unable to afford to purchase their own bike for the event. The best part, this donated bike isn't just yours for the day of the event - it yours to continue cycling forever - no strings attached!
When does the Event Start?
The event starts at 9:00am with registration. The actual event kicks off at 10:00am with the ride itself. After the ride, stick around for the chili cook-off, music and lunch with the day concluding around 2:00pm. Watch for more details as we will be adding additional events to the main attraction and creating an atmosphere of fun, entertainment, and social networking. Food trucks will be there as well. i

Sheep Dog focuses on the mental health recovery of veterans/1st responders is expanding into SW Missouri. It sits on 50 acres of land providing veterans and first responders, or “sheepdogs,” struggling with mental health issues like anxiety and depression. They conduct adventure programs ranging from canoeing the Elk River, camping, hiking, fishing, cave exploring, and much more.

Looking for a social outlet with fellow County adults or retired individuals? Look no more, the time has come to create and grow an adult centered cycling club. The purpose is to build an organization that provides a steady diet of cycling rides and outdoor social activities for adults throughout McDonald County.
The new McDonald County Rotary Club is all about building a better County through battling poverty and assisting students to maximize their future.
