ABOUT LEADERSHIP MCDONALD COUNTY

Leadership McDonald County is a program developed by the McDonald County Chamber and sponsored by community businesses to help identify, cultivate, and motivate future community leaders. This informative and thought-provoking program introduces participants to the community, exposes them to its challenges, and requires them to fully participate in its nine-session curriculum. Leadership McDonald County provides a strategic curriculum to enhance participants’ leadership skills and creates a dialogue for discussion on relevant topics and assessment of local issues, ultimately supporting the Chamber’s strategic initiatives and goals.

McDonald County is blessed with location, beauty, great people, and many businesses, but it is easy to take this for granted. The long-term future however will rely on cultivating the appropriate leadership talent that can guide the County in the right direction. This is where Leadership McDonald County comes into play, it will be a training ground for our future leaders. What makes a leader of tomorrow? True leaders are not just knowledgeable and skilled in management, they are willing to leap ahead when others falter, they understand and are knowledgeable of all facets of our community, including government, business, education, recreation, utilities, infrastructure, housing, health care, social services and so much more.

The Leadership McDonald County program provides training on local issues that impact the local communities and the entire region. It is the training ground for the future McDonald County leaders. The goals of this9-session program include identification and motivation of individuals with leadership potential; acquainting participants with community needs, challenges and opportunities; offering a forum for dealing with community issues; and challenging future leaders to become involved with local issues and the process of decision-making.

Program participants meet monthly from February – October focusing on local/county/state government, education, economy, human services, health care, quality of life, tourism, and leadership skills and theories.

Participation in Leadership McDonald County is open to persons 21 years of age or older, living or working in. McDonald County. We seek representation from a cross-section of the county. Participants should have a strong interest and commitment to serving McDonald County and the SW Missouri region.

Applicants must have support of their family and employer, as the program requires a significant time and a financial commitment. The program tuition covers all sessions, materials, speaker and instructor fees, field trips, meals, refreshments, and site tours.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and are a valuable method for reaching an audience of emerging leaders in McDonald County and SW Missouri.
